Amarinder Singh aka Captain Amarinder Singh is very popular personality in India. He is an Indian politician, military historian and former royal and former veteran worked as 15th and current CM of Punjab. He also elected as Member of the Legislative Assembly. In 1980 He won for the first time in Lok Sabha. He was the CM of Punjab from 2002 to 2007. After 5 years he again elected as CM and took his place from 16 March 2017 when he became 26th CM of Punjab. Recently on Sept 18, 2021 he resigned from his post of the CM. He was the oldest CM by age of India. He also served as chairman of the Punjab Urdu Academy. In past he was also worked in Indian Army.

Amarinder Singh was born at the time when India is in the hands of Britishers. He grew up in Patiala state, British India (present’s Punjab). He has the zodiac sign of Pisces. Career

After graduation he served in Indian Military from June 1963 to December 1966. From December 1964, he served as aide-de-camp to Lieutenant General Harbaksh Singh, Commander Western Command. After resigning from the army in early 1965 to care for his family, he returned when the Indo-Pak War broke out & participated in that conflict as well. He frequently said that “Army will always be my first love” because his father and grandfather were also in the army.

He was not much interested in politics but his school friend Rajiv Gandhi made his interested in politics. He started his political journey in 1980 when he was elected as a member of congress party. During Operation Blue Star in 1984, he protested against the Army’s actions by resigning from Parliament and Congress. A minister in the state government for Agriculture, Forest, Development and Panchayats, he joined the Shiromani Akali Dal and was elected to the state legislature from Talwandi Sabo.

In 1992 he left Akali dal and created his group named Shiromani Akali Dat but later he combined this with congress. From 1999 to 2002, 2010 to 2013 and 2015 to 2017, he served as the President of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee on three occasions. In 2002, he was also elected the Chief Minister of Punjab and served until 2007. In 2008, he was selected to the Punjab Congress Campaign Committee as chairman. The Congress Working Committee has also welcomed Captain Amarinder Singh as a permanent member since 2013. At the 2014 general election, he defeated Arun Jaitley by more than 102,000 votes. In addition to serving thrice in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, he has served in Samana and Talwandi Sabo once each. During the crucial period leading up to the 2017 elections in Punjab, Amarinder Singh was appointed the party’s president on 27 November 2015. In the State Assembly elections, he led Congress Party to victory on 11 March 2017. As chief minister for the 26th time, Amrinder Singh was sworn in at Punjab Raj Bhavan in Chandigarh on 16 March 2017. Punjab Chief Minister gave his resignaation on 18 September 2021.

As an author he wrote man books such as  A Ridge Too Far, The Last Sunset: Rise, Fall of Lahore Durbar and many more. He also wrote many books on his various experience during army services.
