William Wallace Lincoln was the 3rd son of the Mary Todd Lincoln and American wise president Abraham Lincoln. William was named after her mother Mary Todd’s brother-in-law Dr. William Wallace.

William Wallace Lincoln was born on 21 December, 1850 in Springfield, Illinois but unfortunately his very short lives ends on 20 February, 1862 at the early age of 11.

Willie was born in Springfield, Illinois. At the time when Willie and his younger brother named Tad lived in Springfield they both are known as the infamous hells. William Herndon who was law partner of their father Abraham Lincoln told that both brothers pulled out the books from racks while their father seemed absent.
When Abraham Lincoln elected as a President of the United States. The family moved to White House. At that time Mary Todd Lincoln told Julia Taft to take her younger brothers to white house so that Willie and Tad has playmates. So Horatio Nelson who is 14 years old and Halsey Cook Taft who is 12 years old moved to white house to gave company to Willie and Tad. Both brothers are very playful. They loved to playing with soldiers/troops that guarded the White House from inside and outside. Also some member of Pennsylvania Bucktail regiment loved to play with them they entertained both brothers with some exciting stories and by doing races. William setup a mini fort on the roof of mansion and setup army with little logs painted to look same as cannon.
In 1962, Willie and Tad both brother became ill by diagnosed with the measles. This situation was worst for their parents and it adds too many trouble to president. At this critical time Mary Todd and Abraham Lincoln spent so much time with him on bedside. Unfortunately Willie died on February 20 , 1962 at age of 11.
After his deaths his brother Tad and his parents all were deeply affected. In interview Lincoln told “My poor boy. He was too good for this earth. God has called him home. I know that he is much better off in heaven, but then we loved him so much. It is hard, hard to have him die!”. After his funeral he locked himself in room. His mother Mary also wen in shocked and was in bed for three weeks. Abraham Lincoln take responsibility and was focus on health of Tad who is also extremely sick. Tad also feel alone after willie’s death as his other playmates Bud and Holly was also not allowed by mary to white house anymore.
He was buried at Oak Hill Cemetery in Georgetown. In 1865 after Lincoln’s death he was also buried in Oak Hill Cemetery in Springfield, Illinois. After that Tad also died because of the illness in 1871 at the age of 18. Lincoln and his wife were very unlucky in children. Their second children named “Eddie” also died very early just before his fourth birthday.
